ILM Management Qualifications

ILM Management :

ILM is the UK's leading, specialist award body for Management Qualifications and presents or awards qualifications to over 40,000 managers each year, in all areas of business and/or industry.

These range from team leader to board level, as well as managers of small businesses and those responsible for quality, energy, the environment and human resources.

More than half a million managers have improved their own performance and delivered real & transferable benefits to their employers by taking part in ILM Management programmes.

The Certificate in Management and Introductory Certificate in Management were designed for people who are likely to become first line managers (team leaders or supervisors) or who are already in post but have had little, or no formal training in their role. They may work in offices and factories, in hospitals or leisure centres and on battle fields or building sites.

Wherever people & resources are employed, Managers with an ILM Management Certificate and Introductory Certificate ensure that they are employed effectively and productively.

Both awards have been designed to improve organisational performance through the strong focus on each individual's job role.

Development of the individual manager is from highly practical programmes with work based assessment that generates significant payback for the sponsor, from the saving in cost and from quality improvements. Time out of the workplace is reduced by taking advantage of the flexible programme design and combining a resource based learning with taught workshops. Existing internal, short training sessions may also be incorporated in to delivery of the basic programme structure.

A full Certificate in Management will typically take between 9 and 15 months, although this can be extended up to a maximum of 3 years.

An Introductory Certificate may take from as little as one week or up to a maximum of one year.

Timescales are flexible to meet your needs and the use of alternative delivery methods can be effective in reducing time away from the workplace.

The main purpose of both qualifications is to improve the performance of first line managers which, for many participants, is an end in itself.

However, both awards can be a stepping stone to further, more advanced qualifications.

An ILM Introductory Certificate can provide credit against the full Certificate, or be designed to provide specific knowledge and skill for people working toward S/NVQ in Management at Level 3. Similarly the full Certificate programme provides knowledge and skill appropriate to the S/NVQ in Management at Level 3 (and at Level 4 in many cases) and offers a charted progression route to Introductory Diploma in Management or the Diploma in Management, in addition to other management awards.
